Abstract

Marjolin's ulcer is a rare and frequently aggressive cutaneous malignancy that arises from chronic ulcers, burns, and chronic inflammatory processes. Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is a malignant tumor, originating from epidermal keratinocytes, which has an invasive nature and the potential to metastasize. The use of superficial radiation therapy (SRT) has experienced a renaissance for treating nonmelanoma skin cancers and recurrent keloids.
We report on a case with an extensive SCC that has been treated successfully by surgery methods and superficial radiation therapy at my Department of plastic and reconstructive, aesthetic surgery.
