Abstract

Objectives: To evaluate results of breast reconstruction with an implant in the treatment of early-stage breast cancer.
Subject and method: Retrospective description study in 62 breast cancer patients who underwent SSM or NSM and reconstruction with implants at K Hospital from January 2015 to December 2021.
Result: The rate of postoperative complication was low. Aesthetic scores were at excellent and good levels at 1 month, 1 year, 2 years, and 4 years after surgery at 96.8%; 93.5%; 69.4%, and 43.5% respectively. The patients who were treated with adjuvant radiotherapy had lower aesthetic scores than the patient group without radiotherapy
(p < 0.05). Adjuvant chemotherapy does not affect aesthetic results.
Conclusion: Immediate breast reconstruction with implant had good aesthetic results, with aesthetic deterioration over time and in the group of patients treated with adjuvant radiotherapy.
