Application of the anterolateral thigh flap treats the defects of the face and head area post-burns
Main Article Content
Abstract
Large complex defects in the head and facial area for many different reasons, especially the cause of burns. Ensuring the covering of these defects in the head area using free flaps with microsurgery is one of the effective treatments. The anterior lateral thigh flap is flexibly used in many different styles and, with its large size, is the optimal choice for covering the massive defect of the head and facial area with burns.
We introduced scalp reconstruction using the anterior lateral thigh flap on three patients with complex scalp defects following high-voltage burns. The flaps completely survive, primary healing, ensuring a good covering function.
