Abstract

Distal skin flaps for reconstruction of soft tissue injuries on wrist and hands, especially exposure of tendon and bone always are the first choices of plastic surgeons. However, there are lots of disadvantages of this technique, for example, bulky, random pedicle… the period of nourishment flap time is longer. We first successfully applied the “thin” deep inferior epigastric perforator flap to recover solft tissue defect (tendon, bone exposure) at wrist and hands. The technique was applied to 03 patients. The distal part of flap was thinned by liposuction. All flaps survive completely, and have the suitability of flap with the characteristics of reconstructive area. The admitted time also was decreased. Patients were satisfied with functional and cosmetic outcomes.
