Successful treatment of a patient with Fournier Syndrome
Main Article Content
Abstract
Fournier syndrome is a rare disease that usually occurs in men. Infection can be caused by many types of bacteria that compromise immune systems, leading to multiple organ failure and death. Clinical case: 33-year-old male patient with a medical history of diabetes, and adrenal insufficiency. The patient had pimples and pus in the groin and scrotum areas and was self-treated with antibiotics and incisions at home. The wound did not heal, complications of wound infection, septic shock, and ventilator-associated pneumonia were treated at Bach Mai Hospital. The patient was transferred to the Le Huu Trac National Burn Hospital with diffuse wound infection of the perineum. The patient was treated with a combination of intensive resuscitation, negative pressure wound therapy with instillation and dwell time (NWPTi-d), and surgery. After three surgeries, the wound was healed. With this announcement, we want to give clinicians more options for methods to clean complicated infected wounds and prepare them well for successful surgery.
