Abstract

This study investigated characteristics and influences of comorbidity and prognosis value of CCI score on outcomes of elderly patients admitted to the National Burn Hospital during the period 2015 - 2019.
The results indicated that comorbidity was seen in 26.79% of patients with the most common diseases of hypertension (35,27%), neurological system (32,30%), diabetes (22,33%) with a CCI score of 0.29 (0 - 9). Patients with comorbidity were significantly older with a higher rate of deep burn and full-thickness burn area (p < 0.01). Besides, remarkably longer hospitalization, number of surgical interventions, the higher mortality rate (OR = 1.77) were recorded in patients with comorbidity (p < 0.05). Multivariate logistic analysis revealed that CCI score was an independent risk factor affecting mortality rate among elderly burn patients (OR = 1.54) along with burn extent and inhalation injury.
