Abstract

This article reviews studies on the application of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from adult human blood and umbilical cord blood in wound treatment using rat models. It focuses on analyzing the biological basis of PRP, the role of growth factors in wound healing, and comparing the composition and biological efficacy between adult-derived PRP and umbilical cord blood-derived PRP. Additionally, it examines experimental rat models, treatment outcomes (such as wound healing time, angiogenesis, granulation tissue formation), as well as current challenges and future research directions. Both adult-derived PRP and umbilical cord blood-derived PRP demonstrate significant potential for human wound treatment. Umbilical cord blood-derived PRP offers a novel approach, particularly in cases where blood collection is unfeasible, due to its rich concentration of biological factors and potential for standardized preparation. However, further direct comparative studies, protocol standardization, and long-term safety evaluations are required before widespread clinical application.
