Assessment of effectiveness of the early excision and skin graft for deep burns at the Nghe An General Friendship Hospital

Abstract
Aims: To describe the clinical, paraclinical features and effectiveness of the early excision and skin graft in the treatment of deep burns.
Materials and methods: This prospective study was conducted on 64 deep burns patients at the Nghe An General Friendship Hospital from October 2023 to October 2024 by early excision and skin graft.
Results: The main cause of burns is firing 58.1%; Average area of deep burns 11.5%. The ratio of shock, clinical and paraclinical course in the period of burn shock and infection cases increased in direct proportion to the area of deep burns. Deep burn wound
treated early excision and skin graft: the edema reduces and go away after 2 - 3 days; The symptoms of bacterial toxicity period reduced: high fever (from 100% to 42%), digestive disorder from 60.46% to 34.88%, mental disorder from 74.41% to 35.53%. Average hospitalization time: 15.2 ± 1.78 days. Complication: 6.97%, mainly local infections; there were no deaths.
Conclusions: The early excision and skin graft in the treatment of deep burns at the Nghe An General Friendship Hospital resulted in good outcomes, shortening
hospitalization time.
