Abstract

Objectives: To describe the current status and explore some factors associated with dietary knowledge among patients after colon surgery at Military Hospital 103 in 2025. 
Subjects and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 72 patients treated at the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery, Military Hospital 103, from April to August 2025. The research instrument was developed based on the guidelines of ERAS and ESPEN, and was validated by three experts, with a content validity index (CVI) of 0.92 and a reliability coefficient of 0.85.
Results: A total of 45.8% of patients had adequate dietary knowledge, while 54.2% had inadequate knowledge. Factors significantly associated with dietary knowledge included place of residence (p = 0.006), educational level (p = 0.002) and information-seeking behavior (p < 0.001). 
Conclusions: Dietary knowledge among patients after colon surgery at Military Hospital 103 remains limited.
