Abstract

Background: Wound care constitutes a major part of nurses' clinical practice and requires adequate knowledge, skills, and confidence, with continuing education playing a key role.
Objective: To evaluate nurses' feedback on a wound care training program based on the Vietnamese Nursing Competency Standards (2023) and to describe changes in self-reported confidence before and six weeks after training at three hospitals.
Methods: one-group pretest–posttest educational intervention study surveyed all 135 nurses providing wound care who completed the 2023 training program at three hospitals.
Results: Over 90% of nurses agreed/strongly agreed with all training program items, highest for improving patient care quality (59.3%). After six weeks, self-confidence significantly improved across all 13 skills (very confident: 8.1 - 15.6%; confident: 40.8 - 45.2%; p < 0.05), most notably in communication and wound/patient assessment skills. Clinical decision-making, infected wound care, and pressure ulcer care require further improvement.
Conclusion: The training program was positively evaluated, and nurses' self-reported confidence improved significantly after six weeks.
