Kiến thức, thái độ và thực hành về kiểm soát nhiễm khuẩn của sinh viên điều dưỡng trình độ cao đẳng tại Trường Cao đẳng Bắc Giang năm 2026

Abstract

Objective: To describe knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding infection prevention and control among college-level nursing students at Bac Giang College in 2026.
Subjects and methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among 300 second and third-year college-level nursing students undergoing clinical rotations at affiliated practice sites of Bac Giang College during the 2025–2026 academic year. Knowledge and attitudes were assessed using a structured self-administered questionnaire, while practices were assessed through direct observation using checklists. The tools were based on Vietnamese Ministry of Health standard precautions and relevant professional guidance, together with WHO hand hygiene principles. Data were analyzed using SPSS and descriptive statistics.
Results: Overall satisfactory knowledge was 80.0% (240/300). The proportion of students demonstrating the general attitude is 89.7% (269/300), the three measured attitude domains ranged from 88.0% to 92.0%. Overall satisfactory infection prevention and control practice was 66.3% (199/300). Higher practice rates were observed for sharps disposal into safety containers (86.0%), completion of the six-step hand hygiene technique (83.0%), and donning/doffing PPE in a simulated situation (80.0%). Lower rates were observed for adherence to the 20-30-second hand-rubbing duration with an alcohol-based hand rub (48.0%) and safe PPE removal sequence (53.0%).
Conclusion: Students showed a relatively high proportion of satisfactory general knowledge and the measured attitude domains ranged from 88.0% to 92.0%; however, overall practice was 66.3%, indicating the need to strengthen hand hygiene duration and safe PPE removal in clinical practice.
