Abstract

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) has emerged as one of the most pressing challenges of modern medicine, particularly in countries with a high burden of infectious diseases like Vietnam. The rapid increase of multidrug-resistant and pan-resistant pathogens has made the treatment of common infections more difficult or even impossible. This review summarizes the historical context, resistance mechanisms, and key ESKAPE pathogens, with a focus on the current AMR situation in Vietnam. Practical directions are proposed from the perspective of clinical pharmacy and antimicrobial stewardship to tackle this global and national crisis.
