Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the early outcomes of B‑plasty oncoplastic breast‑conserving surgery in patients with breast cancer at Military Hospital 175.
Subjects and Methods: A prospective descriptive study was conducted on 51 patients with breast cancer who underwent breast-conserving surgery using the B-plasty at Military Hospital 175 between December 2022 and October 2025. Cosmetic outcomes were assessed using the Harris scale at 6 months after completion of adjuvant radiotherapy; 35/51 patients had reached the prespecified assessment time point at data lock. Patient satisfaction was assessed separately in all 51 patients using a four-point Likert scale.
Results: The study included 51 patients with early-stage breast cancer, with a mean age of 52.3 ± 9.8 years. Sentinel lymph node biopsy was performed in 64.7% of patients. The mean operative time was 105.4 ± 28.7 minutes. Negative surgical margins were achieved in 96.1% of patients (49/51). Most patients had drain removal within 5 days (74.5%) and were discharged within 7 days after surgery (82.4%). The overall postoperative complication rate was 17.64% (9/51), with seroma being the most common complication (7.84%; 4/51). Among 35 patients eligible for cosmetic assessment, 28 (80.0%; 95% CI, 63.1 - 91.6) had good-to-excellent outcomes. Overall, 86.3% (44/51) of patients reported being satisfied or very satisfied.
Conclusion: The B-plasty in breast-conserving surgery for breast cancer demonstrated favorable early outcomes in terms of surgical margins, postoperative complications, and cosmetic results in the study population.
